Sharon Diebolt and Mark Hammill have collaborated to make dazzling modernist clutchs and handbags from wood veneer of rare species. They understand the rich patterns in the grain of the wood, the luster, the color, the shade. Combining hand-figured veneers of burl with clever mechanical and magnetic clasps, and finished with leather, each purse is both eyecatching and lightweight. Sharon and Mark have come from long careers in woodworking, having previously made jewelry boxes, clocks, and small studio furniture.
