Holly Anne Mitchell fell in love with newspaper as a material when she was attending the University of Michigan in 1990. An assignment to make a piece from non-traditional materials led her to this unusual medium, which she has taken and fully mastered. Using pages from the comics section, the Wall Street Journal, and snippets of headlines, she creates sculptural brooches, necklaces and bracelets which always have a narrative running underneath. Carefully chosen panels tell a story, often with a wry sense of humor.
