Block printing is an ancient art, and one that comes naturally to K. Riley, who performs the whole technique from start to finish. Carving her own blocks in linoleum, she gets crisp, vivid lines, cast in a palette of ivory white, pale blue and turquoise, and a gentle gray-blue standing out against deep, solid black. Her compositions are as limitless as her imagination, with a natural ratio of busy life and quiet expanse. Abstract patterns, as simple as dashes of creamy white, interpose themselves amongst the representational portraits of the wild.
