These particular pieces are the collaborative brainchild of Kim Kelzer and Marcia MacDonald, two artisans who worked in very different mediums. Kim Kelzer is a furniture maker and woodworker, while Marcia MacDonald, who passed away from cancer in 2010, was a jewelry artist. These two brooches are an example of how vivid and unusual the result can be when two or more artists contribute their own unique skills and sensibilities to a piece of art. My mother enjoyed both pieces, and would often wear the red, yellow and fuchsia brooch to craft shows.
