A graduate of the Government Academy of Industrial Arts in St. Petersburg, Veronika Braslavsky has brought her fine arts background into contact with wearable fiber. Her painted felt dresses and coats feature abstract muses, pretty women with long faces and makeup, or dressed in a bonnet, blowing a trumpet and flourishing a bouquet. She makes her own fabric from laminated felt, which is held together by an adhesive. This three-dimensionality allows her to sculpt the garment, much as one might do so for papier-mâché.
